A Christmas VisitorGreat Christmas movie. Good actors. Nice twist at the end.
It was kinda hard to make sense of this movie, until the last 15 minutes.....than you know what is really going on. Throughout the entire movie, the son had plenty of opportunities to reveal to his dad that he had never been killed in Iraq. He could have revealed himself to Dad in the pickup shortly after Dad's near car accident. He could have revealed himself while him and dad were buying the Christmas tree, when Dad tells "the visitor" his son's name...and when his Dad tells "the visitor" his son's company while he was stationed in Iraq. He could have revealed himself during his conversation with his sister and mother while at the house on Christmas Eve.
I kept wondering, why doesn't the guy reveal that he never died in Iraq? Unless he was planning something elaborate to reveal himself as their son on Christmas morning....as a Christmas present...like a family reunion of sorts. So, why won't he just reveal himself?
So, it would have to make absolute sense that he was an angel, sent down from God to pay a visit to his family. Those 15 minutes are what this movie is all about, and explains everything that didn't appear to make sense. That last scene when dad salutes his son is classic, and brings tears to the eyes. The sister also receives good news that she doesn't have cancer.
It was bittersweet...and sad in some parts....but not too sad. It was also uplifting as well.
